Bob Johnson

Bob Johnson, Chairman

Bob Johnson, Executive Chairman of Northland, provides leadership and strategic oversight to the firm, ensuring a strong working relationship between the Executive Team and Board of Directors, as well as promoting effective communication with shareholders.

Bob brings extensive knowledge and expertise to the firm, having spend more than 20 years in the investment industry in Canada and the UK advising and executing on both public and private transactions.

More recently, he is focused on building a financial services business focused on supporting growth companies in the UK and internationally across a number of sectors.

Patrick Claridge

Patrick Claridge, Chief Executive Officer

Patrick’s career spans 34 years of institutional, corporate and management experience in the City. He established the London office of TIR securities (UK) Limited eventually becoming the head of the company’s global institutional business generating in excess of US$180m of revenues.

When E*TRADE securities acquired TIR, Patrick was later appointed Chief Executive Officer. Patrick joined Merchant Securities Limited and then became CEO of the company which involved reshaping the capital base and changing the business from a small private client stockbroking firm to a boutique corporate advisery and wealth management firm increasing client assets from £72m to over £600m.

Patrick led the successful sale of the company to Sanlam, the South African wealth management firm. Patrick is a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

David Hills

David Hills, Finance Director / Chief Operating Officer

David has ten years experiences’ as a Finance Director within the investment banking sector.

David is a qualified Chartered Accountant with 18 years’ post-qualification experience gained with a variety of quoted UK and US companies.

Gerry Beaney

Gerry Beaney, Head of Corporate Finance

Gerry joined the team in September 2014, having previously been a Partner and Head of Capital Markets at Grant Thornton UK LLP for fifteen years. During this time, Grant Thornton was the most active independent nominated adviser, executing some 250 Nominated Adviser mandates.

Gerry has a well-established track record in advising both UK and international companies on fundraisings, IPOs and mergers and acquisitions. In addition to AIM he has experience of advising London Main Market and ISDX companies. He founded and was co-head of Grant Thornton’s international mining team and his significant sector expertise also encompasses financial services and TMT.

Gerry qualified as a chartered accountant with Spicer & Oppenheim in Scotland in 1986 and subsequently spent six years in New York where he qualified as a US certified public accountant. He holds a Bachelor of Accountany degree from the University of Glasgow.

John Howes

John Howes, Head of Sales and Broking

John is the Head of Sales and Corporate Broking at Northland and has been a member of the team since 2011. He has over 30 years’ experience of UK equity capital markets, initially as a Fund Manager before moving into stockbroking.

John is a very experienced salesman with an established reputation in the small and mid-cap sectors. He has worked on a significant number of transactions including: IPO’s; secondary placings; and private placements across a wide range of sectors.

Before joining Northland, John was a Partner with Matrix Corporate Capital and has held senior positions at Seymour Pierce and Panmure Gordon & Co.

Vadim Alexandre

Vadim Alexandre, Head of Research

Vadim has over a decade of capital markets experience, specialising in the healthcare sector. He joins Northland from Daniel Stewart & Company plc, where he headed the research department and developed a leading healthcare franchise for the firm.

Prior to that, he worked in the research and healthcare analysis roles for Economic and Business Data Inc. and Healthcare Information Technologies Inc. in Montreal, Canada. Vadim holds a BSc in Microbiology and Immunology and a Masters degree in Economics from McGill University.
